Fushen reminds: Essential knowledge for winter panel assembly and key precautions for preventing cracking during panel assembly

Winter is coming again, especially the cold wave, and the temperature is dropping rapidly! At this time, higher requirements are put forward for the paneling process: in winter, the air is dry and the temperature difference is large. Solid wood paneling is prone to deformation and cracking due to changes in humidity and temperature. Then, the following five core requirements need to be strictly controlled:

1. Control the drying speed

After the panel assembly is completed, cover the removed panels with film to slow down the rate of water loss. If conditions permit, install humidifiers in the cutting workshop to stabilize the environmental humidity.

2. Try assembling thick plates first

Before joining thick plates, a trial assembly must be conducted to carefully check if there are any gaps at the joints of the wooden boards. If there are any gaps, the wooden board should be picked out in time to avoid affecting the overall splicing quality.

3. Plane and assemble on the spot without delay

After the planing is completed, it is recommended to finish the paneling operation within 1 to 2 hours. Fresh wood has a small degree of deformation and secretes less oil, which enables the glue to penetrate more fully and enhances the bonding effect.

4. Extend the pressurization time

In winter, when the temperature is relatively low, the curing speed of the glue slows down, and the pressurization time needs to be appropriately extended. It is recommended that the pressing time for thick plates be no less than 3 hours to ensure a firm bond.

5. Choose the right time to work and avoid extremes

When cold waves hit and the environmental humidity and temperature fluctuate sharply, it is recommended to temporarily suspend the splicing of thick wooden boards. Resume work only after the environmental conditions are stable to reduce the risk of cracking and rework due to environmental factors.
