I. Material factors: Control the basic quality and prevent defects from the source

1. Selection and treatment of wood veneer

Scope of application: This article focuses on the thin wood veneer (0.1-0.3mm) process, and the thick wood veneer (0.3-0.5mm) process will be supplemented later.

Avoid dry wood veneer: Dry wood veneer has a strong rebound force and requires a high initial adhesion of glue, which can easily form "false adhesion". When painting, it is prone to bubbling due to the evaporation of thinner.

2. Prefer moist wood veneer

① It is recommended to use wet wood veneer that has been freshly planed and refrigerated, with balanced moisture content.

② The wood veneer that has been wetted on site should be wrapped with plastic paper. After the internal moisture is evenly distributed, it can be pasted the next day.

③ Reject wrinkled wood veneer: Due to unevenness and uneven moisture content, wood veneer becomes wavy or concave-convex after drying, which is prone to accumulation and rebound. ④ Even after being moistened and ironed, it will weaken the adhesive force and cause bubbling after painting. When purchasing, pay attention to the flatness.

Ii. Process Factors: Standardize operation procedures to reduce human defects

1. Control the placement time after applying the adhesive

Core issue: After applying the glue, cover the wood veneer and press gently. Improper placement time can easily lead to problems - if the time is short, the moisture content will be high, it won't be firmly irched, and it is prone to rebound and overflow of glue. If left for a long time, water will evaporate, the penetration of the glue will weaken, and it will not stick firmly.

Judgment basis: It needs to be adjusted in combination with four major factors:

① Environmental dryness and humidity: High humidity leads to a longer storage time, while low humidity results in a shorter one.

② Moisture content of wood veneer: If the wood veneer is too wet, it will be stored for a long time; if it is relatively dry, it will be stored for a short time.

③ Moisture content of the glue: A high moisture content means a longer shelf life, while a low moisture content means a shorter one.

④ Substrate density: If the substrate is loose, it will be placed short; if it is dense, it will be placed long.

2. Optimize ironing techniques (standardized training for employees is required)

Iron + sandpaper in sync: This method is recommended for beginners. It is easier to handle than direct ironing, has a lower error rate, and is less likely to bubble.

When necessary, oblique ironing: Due to the large heating area of flat ironing, it is easy to cause uneven shrinkage of the wood veneer, cracking and "false adhesion" (bubbling during painting). Oblique ironing can avoid this problem.

Control the ironing temperature: The ironing temperature for moist thin wood veneer should be between 120 and 220℃. If the temperature is too low, it may cause false adhesion. If it is too high, ironing too frequently or with too short intervals, it may cause the wood veneer to break.

3. Correct way of applying glue

Tool selection: Use short-bristled rollers or curved line rollers. Avoid using scrapers or brushes (as they can easily lead to uneven application of glue, insufficient glue or glue accumulation).
