How to choose among PUR, EVA and laser edge banding methods?
Share
People in the furniture industry all know that high-end customization of furniture is a trend nowadays, and the first direct impression that consumers have when judging the quality of a product is the edge banding details of the board.
Is the edge sealing aesthetically pleasing? Are there any obvious glue lines? Does the edge banding have better moisture-proof, water-proof and temperature change resistance capabilities? In a nutshell: Can the edge banding process better cope with the challenges of environmental changes?
So why is it said that using PUR glue for edge banding is a more recommended choice at present? Let's take a look at the analysis from Fushen.
I. Performance Comparison
Whether the comprehensive performance of edge banding is good or not can only be known through comparison! We made comparisons respectively from six dimensions (the aesthetic appearance of the glue line, cleanliness, resistance to high and low temperatures, solvent resistance, water resistance, and weather resistance).
From the following figure, it is not difficult to see that PUR adhesive edge banding is fully outperformed by laser edge banding and EVA adhesive edge banding in terms of weather resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance, and resistance to high and low temperatures. Especially for EVA adhesive edge banding, it can be said to be comprehensively outperformed.

Strong water resistance and moisture resistance, PUR glue solves the problem of continuous durability of edge banding. The bonding strength and resistance to temperature differences enable PUR adhesive to better cope with environmental changes. The ring glue line is almost invisible, and the aesthetic effect is immediate. With such powerful performance of edge banding glue, who else would you choose if not this one?

Ii. Cost Comparison
No matter what kind of edge banding process is used, it is just being unreasonable to avoid talking about it without considering the cost of use. Take the commonly used cabinet door as an example. The cost of laser edge banding is the highest, three times that of PUR glue, and there is no cost-effectiveness at all.
When compared with EVA adhesive edge banding, the comprehensive cost performance of PUR adhesive becomes prominent. Firstly, the amount of glue applied per unit area is only about half of that of EVA, which means less glue is used. Secondly, in terms of the total edge banding cost per unit area, EVA is only 10% lower than PUR, but the value brought by the performance of PUR adhesive is far higher than 10%.

Then why is it said that PUR glue edge banding is the most cost-effective? The unit price of EVA glue seems to be much lower than that of PUR, but in the actual production process, considering the production efficiency and performance stability, once the glue line is reworked, the cost that the manufacturer needs to pay is far greater than the 70 cents saved.
Fushen believes that manufacturers who have a clear understanding of the above two points, especially those who truly have long-term plans and development goals for product quality, will gain more benefits by choosing PUR adhesive edge banding.
Product Recommendation
Fushen Woodworking Adhesive's brand-new PUR edge banding adhesive has been launched on the market, and it has also introduced GW-9800 edge banding adhesive (Winter Edition) and GW-9800 (Summer Edition) to address the temperature differences in different regions.
There is also a dedicated PUR cleaning agent for convenient and effective cleaning of the machine at any time.
