In the manual wood veneer application process, the problem of wood veneer cracking occurs frequently, mainly due to two aspects: the selection of glue and the operation method. The following is a specific analysis and solution.
The reason at the glue level
1. Improper selection of glue
Different wood veneer materials and application scenarios have different requirements for glue. If the bonding strength of ordinary white latex is insufficient, it is difficult to adhere to the hard wood veneer with high density. Poor-quality glue has unstable components, poor water and weather resistance, and is prone to delamination and cracking when exposed to environmental changes.
The glue is not evenly applied.
Applying too little will result in insufficient adhesion, while applying too much will cause excessive shrinkage during drying, both of which can lead to cracking. Local accumulation or missed coating can also cause uneven bonding strength in different parts, leading to uneven force and cracking.

3. The glue is not dried thoroughly
The adhesive layer that is not completely dry has low bonding strength. In a low-temperature and high-humidity environment, the drying process slows down. If operated too early, the wood veneer is prone to cracking due to external forces. The drying conditions for different glues vary. Please handle them according to the instructions.
Second, reasons at the level of operational techniques
1. Improper treatment of the substrate
Uneven surface of the base material, dust, oil stains or moisture will affect the bonding effect of the glue. When the base material itself deforms and warps, stress release can also cause the wood veneer to crack.
The cutting and splicing of the wood veneer are unreasonable
Inaccurate cutting dimensions or improper handling of the splicing seams can cause stress concentration in the wood veneer. When wood veneers of different textures are joined together, inconsistent shrinkage and expansion can also cause cracking.

3. Improper pressurization methods and pressure control
Uneven pressure distribution, improper pressure magnitude or insufficient/excessive pressure time will all affect the bonding effect, leading to hollowing, deformation or cracking.
4. Inadequate post-processing and maintenance
Unpolished surfaces are prone to stress concentration. Contact with water, high temperatures or external impacts during use will accelerate the cracking of the wood veneer.

Choose professional glue
